South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has welcomed 99 new tenants as we took over the ownership and management of 87 new homes.
SLH took over homes in Garston and Grassendale, through a stock transfer from Riverside following consultation with the tenants. The sale was completed on Monday 9 November which includes houses, flats and maisonettes for affordable rent.
Transferring tenants will benefit from a community-based housing association operating solely in the South Liverpool area; providing an excellent customer service centre and a high quality 24 hour repair service; as well as a local dedicated neighbourhood management service.
This transfer is an important step for SLH, as we broaden our portfolio of homes and expand our ownership further across South Liverpool.
Wayne Gales, Deputy Chief Executive of South Liverpool Homes said, “We are delighted to welcome our new tenants into what we call the ‘SLH family’. As a community-based housing association, we understand the needs of the area and will continue to deliver excellent local services, whilst at the same time improving business efficiency and value for money. For this reason we will continue to actively seek growth opportunities of this nature in the future, in neighbourhoods where we believe we can make a difference.”
Ian Gregg, Riverside’s Director of Asset Management, added, “This forms part of our on-going programme of managing our assets effectively. Our transfer of homes to a very locally based housing association means that they are able to increase their neighbourhood presence in the area and achieve economies of scale in challenging times.”
SLH has recently launched our corporate plan, Our Journey to 2022, which outlines our plans for the next seven years and demonstrates a commitment to keeping our focus in the South Liverpool area and regenerating in a way that fully meets the needs of the local community.
We completed a new-build programme last year which saw 82 new homes built for affordable rent and shared ownership in South Liverpool, and we are currently building 23 two-bedroom homes in Garston and planning has been submitted for a further 28 new homes in Speke.
