The first tenants have moved into the new homes in Garston as a result of over £2 million investment in the area. A total of 11 two-bedroom high-quality homes have been built in Window Lane, Garston, with a further 12 being built on the former Garston Market site in Island Road South.
The development, delivered by South Liverpool Homes (SLH) and built by housing developer Lovell, has received support from the Homes and Communities Agency; transforming vacant brownfield sites to create much needed homes for affordable rent.
The milestone came when 14 tenants got their keys to their homes last week, including Shelly Brogan and her family who used to live in a privately rented home in Garston.
Miss Brogan said: “I absolutely love my new home and nearly cried when I got my keys last week. I feel like I have settled in really well already - the children are loving the spacious rooms and the garden has been a big hit!”
“We used to live in a home for private rent but it was in disrepair and I struggled to get any works done by my landlord,” continued Shelly. “Our new home is fresh and modern and I’m looking forward to taking advantage of all the extra services that SLH provide.”
South Liverpool Homes deputy chief executive Wayne Gales says: “These new homes will continue to regenerate the area, making it a place where people want to live now and in the future. It’s great news that the new tenants, like Shelly and her family, are excited about moving in and starting a new chapter in their lives.
