Julie Fadden - Chief Executive
Julie joined The SLH Group as Chief Executive in March 2005. She has extensive experience in Local Government and Housing working for Liverpool City Council (1979), Knowsley MBC (1991), Blackburn with Darwen BC (1996) and Harvest Housing Group (1997). Her work on the Partington Estate in Trafford over an 8 year period led to its transformation into a peaceful neighbourhood winning the first InBiz Peaceful Neighbourhood Award in 2004.

Julie is the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Vice President, having been actively involved in the CIH for much of her career, both at Branch and CIH Council level. She is currently Membership Officer of the North West Branch as well as a nationally elected member of CIH Council. Julie is a Fellow of the CIH, has a Diploma in Public Administration and a Masters Degree in Management. In 2007, Julie won the NHF 'Leader of Tomorrow Award' and 'Overall Award' at the NHF Neighbourhood Awards in recognition of her work at SLH Group. In her spare time she enjoys health and fitness activities at her local gym as well as spending time with family and friends.


Wayne Gales - Deputy Chief Executive

Wayne joined The SLH Group in November 2007, is a Chartered Building Surveyor, a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, an Associate of the Chartered Management Institute and graduate of John Moores University. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Board, Wayne plays a leading role in developing and implementing corporate and business strategy across all group businesses.  Wayne is also responsible for overseeing a number of corporate functions, new development and all operational activities.  

Wayne is also lead director for SLH Regeneration, the group commercial subsidiary, which includes SLH Home Service LLP maintenance company and commercial property portfolio.


Michael Whitehead

Michael Whitehead - Director of Finance
Michael graduated from Manchester University in 1981 in Management Sciences. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1984, he transferred into corporate finance and then corporate recovery services. Michael moved into industry in 1989 and has worked for a number of businesses including BICC/Balfour Beatty, ABB and Alstom; in a variety of sectors including building service, facilities management, property development and construction. Michael joined The SLH Group in March 2005.

Ian Cresswell

Ian Cresswell - Director of Risk and Technology
Ian started work in the housing sector in 1994 as a Technical Support Officer for Liverpool Housing Trust. He spent eight years there learning his trade before joining Hornby Homes as IT Manager in 2002. He later became Head of ICT at Plus Dane Housing Group, then Head of ICT at Muir Group. He joined SLH in January 2009.

Ian has responsibility for Risk Management, ICT, Internal Audit, Business Continuity and Data Protection. He is a Certified Member of the Institute of Risk Management and a registered PRINCE2 practitioner.

Claire Ryan

Claire Ryan - Director of Business Assurance
Claire has over 16 years experience of working within social housing. She previously worked at CDS Housing, supporting them through the 2005 Audit Commission Inspection as well as working on projects such as stock transfer and merger.

Claire joined SLH in March 2010 after previously spending time here on secondment in 2006. As Director of Business Assurance, Claire has a varied role responding to changes in customer needs and ensuring compliance with regulatory and charitable requirements. She leads on corporate strategy and policy whilst also having responsibility for Governance, Performance Management, Marketing & Communications, Neighbourhood Engagement, Affordable Living and Employment & Enterprise. 

Julie Marsh

Julie Marsh - Head of Neighbourhood Management
Julie has worked within the housing sector for over 32 years, initially within local authority before joining SLH in 1999. Julie has been an active member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is currently the Chair of the North West Board.

Julie is responsible for Housing Management which includes Community Safety, Neighbourhood Services, Support Services, Think South Liverpool and Customer Services.

Colin Gibson

Colin Gibson - Director of HR and Organisational Development
Colin joined SLH in June 2013 and has over 10 years’ experience of running a strategic and operational Human Resources function with commercially focused organisations within the social housing sector and the NHS. Colin specialises in facilitating strategic HR changes which improve business performance and employee engagement and is experienced in culture change management.

Colin has achieved Number 1 in the Sunday Times Best Not For Profit list and Investors in People Gold accreditation with two organisations and is responsible for ensuring that SLH’s HR strategy, policies and procedures are fully aligned with the achievement of our corporate vision, aims and business objectives.

 Gareth Rigby

Gareth Rigby - Head of Assets
Gareth Joined SLH in September 2013 and previous to this he has over 16 years’ experience of working within the private sector in the building and construction industry. Gareth is a time served plumber and heating engineer and in 2003 he joined Cruden Group based in Manchester were he had a number of roles including having operational responsibility for the delivery of partnership arrangements with a number of clients including Plus Dane Group and Harvest Housing.

As Head of Assets Gareth is responsible for developing and implementing the SLH Group investment strategies and ensuring the delivery of a high quality customer focused responsive and planned investment services driving value for money and maximising customer satisfaction.

Gareth has a HNC and HND in construction as well as a Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and is an Associate of both the Chartered Institute of Builders and the Chartered Management Institute.
